Photog? Maybe!

I have grown to love photography ever since my first class last fall. I've gone from "wow" to "I could totally do that"! But switching from graphic design to something a bit less stable and, for me, unknown has had me too scared. to follow my new calling - until now! I just found out that I can get a degree in both and call it design management. How awesome! I'm looking into it now; I certainly don't want to switch and find out I made the wrong decision! Here's hoping!  Lastest Photoshoot I did of a New Bracelet I made!

Getting to take pics like this and not having to worry about my husband complaining is a huge dream! :)

Leni's Bracelets

My poor bald child. She's like me, she loves sparkles. She'll almost kill herself to look  at the shiny thing across the room. I'm happy she's girly like that. That means we are going to have loads of play times where we dress up! Tons of tea parties I'm sure. But right now she has so few options. No hair. No hair things. Of course necklaces are out of the question for my little squirmer! So bracelets it is! I make one for her, a few for my shop, and a couple more to give away. I enjoy it! And boy, does she love wearing them! She stares at them over and over! What a happy mommy she makes me.

Our First Home

It's been six days since we first saw our yellow snow covered house. It was our second choice of the homes we saw that day, but our first choice got snatched up before we could say escrow. We made the offer for the yellow house the next day. I can't believe it's happening, we will soon be the proud new first time home owners on the block. I have moved 11 times in the past six years (I could add several more if I go back a few more years, but I'll start when I joined the Marine Corps), and this number 12 is hopefully going to be the one that sticks! I can't wait!

I'm Not Crying

Sniffle sniffle. Sob sob. So I asked my three year old: "why are you crying?" "I'm not crying." Right. Well excuse me. More sobs.

I seriously know how he feels. Just leave me alone. It's that feeling. Like I know you have the capabilities to make me feel better . . . and I don't want to feel better. I want to wallow in my sorrow for a while, is that too much to ask?

I still don't know why he was upset. Thank goodness he's over it now. There's only so much of that I can take before I HAVE to make him feel better, I am mommy after all!

The Beginning

I can't very well just start talking about my day without introducing myself, now can I? I'm Paula, a mommy, a wifey and a little worker bee.Seriously. I am currently a full time art student at the Art Institute of Colorado as well as a stay at home mom. Let me tell you, I have the life! But it wasn't so great before year 26.

I'm in my fourth quarter now at the AiColorado. I got to Colorado and began at AiC while still an active duty Marine and have since graduated to the wonderful reserves. I did 6 years as a graphic artist turned lithographer (the Marine Corps decided they'd rather pay civilians to do our job) in Washington DC where I met my husband. We have two cats, a fascinating 3 year old son, and a colicky 3 month old (as of today!) daughter. So I am a full time stay at home mom as well as a full time student.

I grew up in south eastern Ohio, on a bird farm (chickens, ostriches, and everything in between) and went to a Christian school where I wore skirts to my ankles every day. I graduated salutatorian which earned me scholarships to Pensacola Christian College majoring in commercial art. After a few events and plenty of sexism I dropped out for the Marines. I haven't looked back since.

I'm currently in love with my Wacom 21 in (?) monitor, and I love painting in Photoshop.

My new love creating jewelry has been a long time coming. I have collect pieces thinking I would make something out of them for so long now! When Leni was born practically bald I decided she needed a different kind of accessory than hair things - bracelets. Once I learned how to create the cute, tiny stuff I decided to move on to bigger things - MY things. I love it and I gather inspiration from sooo much, it's fantastic!

Here's to Fun, Sparkles, Giggles, and Glamor!
